Trainee plumber at work

Support and training for 16 to 18 year olds

If you are aged 16 to 18, and need extra help to gain an apprenticeship or job, then a Traineeship is the perfect option for you.

A traineeship is an education and training programme that includes a work placement to help you develop the necessary workplace skills to progress into employment or further learning. They are designed to help young people who don’t yet have the appropriate skills or experience, providing the essential work preparation training, English, maths and work experience needed to secure an apprenticeship or employment.

What Traineeships are available?

Traineeships are available in a wide range of sectors including Business, Childcare Construction and Pharmacy, plus many more.

What does a traineeship involve?

Our Traineeships include a substantial work placement and work skills training, alongside support to improve your English and maths. A range of other support and flexible training may be offered to help you develop your skills and progress quickly onto an apprenticeship or secure a job. A traineeship lasts up to 12 weeks.

Is this course free?

Yes, provided you are aged 16 to 18 and do not have any qualifications at Level 3 or above (A-level/NVQ Level 3).

A Traineeship is the perfect option if you:

  • have been unsuccessful when applying for an apprenticeship or other job due to a lack of skills and experience.
  • are aged 16 to 18 and motivated to get a job, but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for.
