Connexions Personal Advisers are on hand to help you with any problems you are facing in or out of college. The service is available to any 16-19 year old students, and to 16- 24 year old students with a disability. They are based in the Guidance team.
Connexions Targeted Support
Connexions Personal Advisers (PAs) support you with problems that are making it difficult for you to enjoy your time at Bradford College, to attend regularly or to achieve the qualifications you are studying for.
Much of what they do is aimed at ensuring that you are safe, housed in suitable accommodation, have enough money to live on, and feel that you have a person to speak to when things worry you or when you need extra support.
Who is it for?
Personal Advisers can work with any student who has high support needs and is between the ages of 16-19 (up to 25 for those with Learning Difficulties or disabilities). They will help you directly or put you in touch with the best people to support you.
What can Connexions help me with?
Personal Advisers are here to help with a wide range of issues, including:
- Housing and homelessness
- Family and relationship problems
- Money and benefits
- Forced marriage and honour abuse
- Self-harm, bullying and self-esteem
- Bereavement and young carers
- Health, sexual health, contraception and pregnancy
- Drug and alcohol misuse
- Your rights
Or anything else that is affecting your life and your ability to attend at Bradford College.
Is it confidential?
Conversations with your Connexions PA are confidential. However, if your Personal Adviser thinks that you, or someone else, is at risk of serious harm, they may need to speak to another person. Every effort will be made to discuss this with you first.
