Here at Bradford College we have 30 years’ experience of delivering apprenticeships and working closely with employers within Bradford and the wider Leeds City Region, there are lots of reasons why Bradford College is the right choice for you. We have access to high quality training facilities, we work with approximately 700 employers and have highly qualified industry specialist staff.

You’ll mostly learn through ‘on-the-job’ training, which is exactly what it says on the tin. Working within your chosen trade, getting hands-on training from your employer, giving you skills to last a lifetime. Then there’s usually one day a week ‘off-the-job’ training in College.

Frequently Asked Questions

Apprenticeships give you an opportunity to learn and gain a recognised qualification while you work. An apprenticeship combines college study with hands-on training to make sure you develop a full rounded knowledge of your chosen subject area.

There is no upper age limit to become an apprentice but you need to be at least 16. Some people leave school and choose to do an apprenticeship straight away, others study full-time at College for a year or two then move into working as an apprentice, you can decide on how you study that’s right for you.

You will spend most of your time within your workplace and the rest of your training will be provided by the College normally on a one day a week basis, although variations can apply according to the programme.

All apprenticeships are paid a national minimum apprenticeship wage (or national minimum wage if you are aged 19+).

You will be expected to work for a minimum of 30 hours a week, which includes the time you spend at college.

To become an apprentice you will need to apply for an apprenticeship job vacancy or speak to a business and have them take you on as an apprentice. If you are already working, your employer can sponsor you to do an apprenticeship with your current role with a view to improving your skills or working towards a promotion.

We can support you through this process helping you with CV writing, interview tips and speaking to your business about the benefits of employing an apprentice.

We work with hundreds of employers every year developing vacancies and helping them recruit a workforce that will boost their business.

We have a wide range of apprenticeships available and specialise in different subjects across Bradford.
