Assessors from Bradford College’s apprenticeships and training arm, City Training Services (CTS) have pulled out all the stops to keep apprenticeship programmes running during the Covid-19 outbreak.
Assessors are supporting staff and apprentices alike throughout this period and are ready to welcome new starters onto apprenticeships this September.
Vicky Bruce, Assistant Manager at Yorkshire dental practice CJ Harker & Associates, said: “Our staff still continue to receive a five-star level of support from assessors at this difficult time.”
Assessors have adapted their teaching so apprentices now receive their lessons online, with all resources sent to them a few days before their activities. Their weekly activities also include Q&A’s to stretch and challenge their knowledge.
Apprentices are still receiving progress reviews every six weeks over the telephone where they are given SMART targets to ensure they are continuing to make progress. One-to-one telephone and email support is also available when needed.
Millie Hunter, who is currently with Wrights Dental Practice, said: “At the moment, with everything that’s going on, I couldn’t ask for anything more. (My assessor) Lisa is always on the other end of the phone, whether it’s a simple question about something on the coursework or some learning resources,” said one apprentice. “I feel so comfortable and happy with her as my tutor.”
Donna Gallagher, who is on an apprenticeship with Fountain Health, added: “I’m really glad I’m a student at Bradford College and glad that I’ve got the tutor I have … I’ve never had a tutor so on the ball with everything.
“Lisa Roche has boosted me to carry on, so I know I’m on the right track.”
