Travel and Tourism students head to Netherlands with Eurocamp

Travel and Tourism students from Bradford College on a trip to the Netherlands

Students from Bradford College travelled hundreds of miles to gain some valuable work experience.

Travel and Tourism students spent a week in the Netherlands on a work placement with leading holiday camp provider Eurocamp.

They enjoyed a taste of their future careers as they learned what it took to run a holiday park and tried their hands at a number of roles across the business.

During the trip the group visited clog, cheese and diamond factories, learning about the production process for each. They took a cruise along one of Amsterdam’s famous canals, and took time out for some fun at a waterpark and theme park.

Tutor Sarah O’Connell said: “The whole trip was an amazing opportunity for students, giving them real-life experience of working abroad in the travel and tourism industry, the chance to bond and improve teamwork.

“The students really embraced this opportunity and did themselves and Bradford College proud.

“This was the first year of overseas work-based learning with Eurocamp, and was a great success and we hope to repeat it next year.”

Student Bethany Crosby said: “The experience away from a classroom setting allowed me to get to know other people who I might work with in the future and also allowed us all to bond with one another. It was a great opportunity to work with a well-known campsite provider who showed everyone an insight as to what they do on a daily basis. They also allowed us to ask questions about the company and what they are like to work for which meant we could decide for ourselves if it was a job we felt that we could do in the future.

“This was my second trip abroad with college as we had previously gone to Barcelona.”

Anyone interested in studying Travel and Tourism at Bradford College should come along to the next College open day on Saturday, July 6, 11am-2pm, where they can speak with staff and learn more about the exciting course.
