Students from Bradford College added some sparkle to their CVs by completing work placements with high street giant Debenhams.
The hair and beauty students gained hands-on experience in the retail industry by working with international brands in the department store in The Broadway shopping centre in Bradford.
The students spent a week working in the store with a view to exploring their career options and enhancing their employability skills. They staffed makeup counters and also offered treatments including nail painting and hair styling at a VIP customer event in the run-up to Christmas.
Ghazale Zae, a Level 2 Beauty student, said: “I loved the experience and learned so much.
“I worked on the MAC and Estee Lauder counters, helping customers with makeup choices.
“I learned a lot about customer service and the retail industry and it has boosted my confidence about going into the workplace.”
Hair student Megan Sutcliffe said: “During the VIP event I styled customers’ hair and thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with the customers and it confirmed to me that I have chosen the right career.”
“At Bradford College we recognise that employers want more than just a qualification on a piece of paper. They want experienced, skilled and driven individuals, and work placements are a key part in helping our students reach their full potential and leave us ready for further studies or employment.”
