ESOL students from Bradford College have volunteered on a community art project to help improve their English and gain work experience.
The students, who are studying English for Speakers of Other Languages, volunteered at the Lidget Green Healthy Living Centre, assisting the group coordinator of the centre, Saima Parwana, with the Ladies' Art Group.
The three students, Fatumata Conteh, Waad Elber Mohamed and Maha Hussein Abubakar, supported the artist to set up her equipment and also joined in with the activities in order to encourage and motivate other participants.
Saima praised the students’ endeavours, saying: “The students were proactive, remained professional, followed instructions and used initiative during their time with us. We appreciated their time, effort and enthusiasm and believe they will flourish in chosen future paths.”
The students were presented with certificates of participation in recognition of their efforts.
Seima Mahmood, ESOL lecturer, said: “It was a brilliant opportunity for our learners to learn new skills and accumulate some work experience simultaneously."
