Bradford College celebrates thousands of positive GCSE results

Students waiting for GCSE results

Bradford College is celebrating thousands of positive GCSE pass rates today.

Over four thousand students sat GCSE papers at the College earlier this summer, with exam entries growing year on year. 3,608 students sat English and maths subjects alone making the College one of the largest providers of GCSEs in the region.

Perfect scores were awarded to 3 subjects that each scored 100% pass rates – Citizenship Studies, Combined Science and Art & Design. All 3 subjects are also well above the national averages.

The College’s Science GCSEs also outperformed the national averages. Chemistry lead the scores with a 24.7% increase on the national average, followed by Biology at 19.2%+, Combined Science at 15%+ and Physics at 1.3%+.

Pass rates were positive for many subjects, with six outperforming the national average and many achieving over 90% pass rates – including Sociology at 97.1% and Business at 94.4%.

Student collecting results

Bradford College Deputy CEO, Craig Tupling said:

"Our students have achieved some great results, which is testament to the hard work of both students and staff and highlights their commitment to studying. The achievements at this foundation stage will enable our students to progress to higher level qualifications at the College or progress into further training, apprenticeships or employment."

Ruth Tomlinson, Head of Department, added:

"I would like to congratulate the students on their achievements. Many of them will be progressing onto other courses, including A Levels here at the College and I wish them every success for their future. Many of our tutors will be celebrating the results with students as they collect their results today."

Students descended on the College today (Thursday 22 August) to collect their results from the Advanced Technology Centre (ATC), or accessed their results online via a Student Portal.

Many students are set to stay on at Bradford College to study further courses including A-Levels, NVQs, Diplomas, BTECs and Apprenticeships as well as Access Courses that lead to HNCs, HNDs, Degrees and Postgraduate courses including PGCEs via the College's own University Centre.

Places are still available on a number of courses, apprenticeships and degrees starting this September.
