Fresh from London Fashion Week, make-up artist Pam West returned to her former college to deliver a masterclass and share industry insight.
Pam, who graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Media Make-Up and Special Effects from the Northern School of Creative Industries at University Centre Bradford College, spoke to current students about her experience of working in the fashion industry and demonstrated make-up techniques recently seen on the catwalks at fashion week shows in the capital.
Pam said: “It was lovely coming back. I enjoyed sharing my experience with the students and I think the fact that I have been in their shoes made it real. I hope it helped the students understand the industry a little better and gave them confidence about securing the careers they want.
“The department has a new studio space since when I was here and it is excellent, very professional.”
Tutor Lisa Dawkins added: “It is wonderful that former students are willing to give back and inspire the next generation and that is exactly what Pam has done.
“She is a great role model for the students. She is proof that there is a journey from the degree into the industry.
“Students give up a lot and sacrifice a lot to do a degree and to see the real-life stories of people progressing working in the industry is important.”
