Pupils at a Bradford primary school have been learning about apprenticeships with the help of Bradford College.

Sam Lawrence, from the college’s Student Engagement and Outreach Team, visited St Matthew's C of E Primary School in Mayo Avenue, West Bowling to deliver an assembly as part of National Apprenticeship Week.

He was joined by Jack Walsh, an apprentice working for the college in procurement administration.

“The visit was designed to introduce apprenticeships to the pupils and make them aware of what options there will be for them later in life,” said Sam.

“We explained to the pupils that they can earn while they learn and pick up skills while studying for a qualification.

“We discussed what an apprentice is, how old you need to be to be an apprentice and what areas of work are covered by apprenticeships.

“Jack spoke to them about his personal experience of being an apprentice, why he chose that route and how he is finding it.”

The assembly was delivered to pupils in years three to six, aged seven to 11 years.

Bradford College, through its apprenticeship provider City Training Services, offers offer a huge range of apprenticeships and traineeships to people of all ages and employers of all sizes across Yorkshire and beyond.

Find out more about apprenticeships at Bradford College's open event on Saturday March 18 or at CTS open day on Wednesday April 26.
