Bradford College Students’ Union has triumphed in the National Union of Students Awards 2013 – winning the accolade for ‘Further Education Students’ Union of the Year’.

"This is a fantastic result for the union and the college. It demonstrates the important and vibrant contribution the union makes to student life in Bradford. It’s just great to win!"

The union took the honours at a glittering awards ceremony held in Manchester. Representing Bradford College at the event were Students’ Union President Piers Telemacque, Business Apprentice Leah Brown and Students’ Union Manager Neil MacKenzie.

Piers said: “This is a fantastic result for the union and the college. It demonstrates the important and vibrant contribution the union makes to student life in Bradford. It’s just great to win!

“The union had to satisfy some tough criteria to win the award, beating off stiff competition from several other UK colleges. Its award entry said: “In the past year, our Student Union has moved from an organisation on the periphery of our institution to one that is central to enhancing the student experience.

“The work that has been undertaken by staff and officers has made a tangible difference to our hyper-diverse membership.”
