Your journey to support and inspire
Bradford College would like to welcome you to our annual Teachers and Advisors’ Conference on Wednesday 13 December. This event is for teachers, managers and advisors who work in primary and secondary schools and those working in the local authority and community sector. Read the full programme of events.
The conference gives you the opportunity to engage with knowledgeable practitioners and equip you with practical information which can be transferred to your workplace for colleagues and students.
The conference is free to attend and a festive lunch will be provided in ‘The Grove’ restaurant, prepared by our students completing their Catering and Hospitality course.
Inder Hunjan, MBE will open the conference, with Kathy Pickerden and Helen Bradley from Belle Vue Girls Academy sharing good practice of successful outreach work.
There will be a selection of interactive workshops for you to choose from including:
Meeting the needs of adopted and permanently placed children
Support the specific needs of your adopted pupils - hear an adoptive parent’s greatest worries and receiving specialised information on this matter. A thought-provoking session delivered by Charlotte Cooper-Nairn, our Student Engagement and Outreach Team Leader, and adoptive mother of two, who has developed it in collaboration with Rhian Beynon, Team Manager Adoption Support at One Adoption West Yorkshire.
Ensuring safety and tackling negative behaviours at Bradford College
This session aims to support teachers and advisors in tackling negative behaviours that they may face, and in providing prospective Bradford College students with reassurance that their journey here will be a safe one. Delivered by PC Matthew Jerram and by our Security Liaison Team, this session will have a particular focus on our United Values, and on how these are implemented at all levels of the College.
45 Minutes to WRAP Up
Initially developed as a 2.5-hour Prevent Duty and British Values session aimed at teachers and advisors, this workshop will provide an engaging taster to help you support your vulnerable pupils through teaching and learning. This session will be delivered by our Home Office Accredited WRAP Trainer, Assia Hussain.
