Course Overview

Higher National Diplomas are designed to provide a specialist vocational programme. They have a strong sector-related emphasis on practical skills development as well as the development of management skills.

A Higher National Certificate is offered on a part-time basis.

The Hair and Beauty industry has proved to be recession-proof and always requires appropriately trained, highly qualified staff.

The BTEC Higher Nationals in Hair and Beauty Management on the RQF will provide an engaging specialist vocational programme with a strong work-related emphasis, linked to the requirements of the professional bodies and National Occupational Standards.

The updated programmes will be significantly different to the old ones on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and the College is still finalising the new programme structures for first delivery from September 2017.

Learning Methods

Learning methods include: reflective practice, assignments, independent study, group work and research.

Teaching Methods

Teaching comprises formal lectures, seminars, small group tutorials and independent and reflective study, which combine to improve your skills.
 

Assessment

The varied assessment for your course will include: written assignments, presentations, case studies and a  portfolio.
 

Work Placement/Fieldwork

Work based experience is a Module within the programme which will enable you to relate what you have learnt to the real world of work.

What's Next?

On completion of the two years, you can progress on to a Year 3 Top-up degree in Beauty Therapy Management.

Additional Costs

There will be additional cost of a kit for some of the specialist Modules.

Entry Requirements

GCSE English and Mathematics at a minimum of Grade C/4-5 and a Level 3 qualification in  Beauty Therapy with Epilation or Hairdressing.
