Our Travel, Aviation, Hospitality and Events courses are ideal for those who are interested in pursuing a career in the Travel & Tourism industry. You may aspire to work in the Tourism industry in areas such as Holiday Centres, Tour Operator Companies, Travel Agencies, Cruise Line Companies or Conference Events Organisations.

You will study and learn about all aspects of Travel, Hospitality and Events such as Customer Service, Itinerary Planning, and UK Travel and Tourism. We will help you to build up the key knowledge and skills essential for work in the Travel and Events Industry including:

  • Customer Service Skills
  • Employability Skills
  • English and Maths Skills
  • Geographical Knowledge of the UK and beyond
  • Group Work Skills
  • Information Gathering Skills
  • Public Speaking Skills

Entry requirements for the courses depend upon the level you begin with. The minimum we require is GCSE English and Maths at a grade D/E or 3/2. You may also need an Entry Level 3 qualification, if you choose to begin with our Level 1/Entry Level course.

English and/or Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

As well as written work, professional discussion and presentations – you will also engage in practical tasks and realistic role play activities to prepare you for work in the Travel and Tourism industry.

Our courses offer fantastic work experience opportunities in the relevant field for your career aspirations. You may also have the opportunity to take part in overseas work-based learning. Our UK based study visits include Chester Zoo, Liverpool Airport, a Dublin Day Trip and Fly Me Cabin Crew Training Centre.

Successful completion of our Travel, Aviation, Hospitality and Events courses offer progression to further study as well as employment. Whether you want to travel the world working as Air Crew or take the lead in Event Planning – our courses will set you on the right path to your dream career.

Level 1 & 2 courses are government funded. Any students aged 16-23 completing their first level 3 qualification will have their course fees funded by the government. Anyone aged 19-23 that is completing a second level 3 qualification will need to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to pay for their fees. Support will be given on the application for this during enrolment. Anyone taking out one of these loans will not have to pay for this until they are earning a minimum of £25,000 a year.

The course provides you with a wealth of knowledge about the Travel, Aviation, Hospitality & Events sectors which will enable you to make informed choices about your onward career plans. We offer a variety of runways (at different levels) for you to take-off from.

The course is 80% classroom-based study and 20% practical activities. Our experienced staff will deliver a variety of lectures, seminars, workshops and presentations and you will also carry out independent student research. You will develop skills using the latest travel industry directories and manuals.

Entry to this course requires GCSE English and Maths at a grade 3 or D.

Other qualifications may be taken into consideration.

You will be expected to wear professional business attire to include black pants/skirt/dress and a collared black shirt provided by yourself. You will be expected to buy a scarf/tie from college on enrolment to compliment your business wear.

The work you do on this course will be internally assessed but there will be a small number of online tests. Ongoing assessment takes place throughout the course to enable you to develop a portfolio of evidence.

Typical assessments will be in the form of:

You will be required to undertake a period of work placement during your study which will be arranged by college on your behalf. You will have the opportunity to gain experience of front of house procedures in our Award-winning raining restaurant The Grove, managing and running the coffee shop.

You will study a range of subjects which will provide you with an insight and understanding of the many different areas of the industry, to help you find the career path that is right for you. On completion of the course you may progress into employment or onto Level 3, Year 1 to continue your studies or in to employment.

You will plan, organise and deliver your own events during the course of the year, giving you real life industry experience of Events Planning. In addition, you will undertake a one-week work placement at a hotel in what has become known as the ‘Student Takeover’. You will be assigned a role for one week and your mentor will guide you through the process to ensure you have an invaluable experience.

You will also have the opportunity to take part in overseas work-based learning.

On completion of the course you may progress into employment or University.
