If you’ve ever wondered about the process behind television, film and media production, our Level 3 Production Arts courses are ideal for you. Build the skills, knowledge and understanding you need for a career in performing and production arts.
Key Info
You will learn the essential knowledge and skills needed of the production team. From costume, prop and stage design to production management – immerse yourself in the fascinating world of production arts. Develop your creative skills and critical thinking skills as you bring your thoughts and ideas to life on all things production.
Entry to this course requires 4 GCSEs at a minimum of grade 4 or C including GCSE English and Maths. Successful completion of a Performing Arts qualification may be needed depending upon the level that you begin with.
English and Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.
Assessment will include practical, project-based, live-brief work supported by both practical performance and production assessment.
Work experience and enrichment opportunities are embedded into the timetable to ensure that the course is both diverse and CV enhancing to prepare learners with industry-based experience work in the creative industries. Our links include but are not limited to – The Royal Shakespeare Company, Dance United, Bradford Council.
Successful completion of our Production Arts courses means that you have the opportunity to progress directly into employment roles in the creative industries. With the skills and knowledge you develop, you may pursue further study or careers directly related to production arts, such as Staging Assistants and Technicians, Stage Producers in television, film, theatre and media.

The Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Production Arts builds the skills, knowledge and understanding needed for a career in performing and production arts. If you’ve ever wondered about the process behind television, film and media production, our Level 3 Production Arts course is ideal for you. There is also the opportunity to explore an area of specialist study and context.

The Level 3 Diploma in Production Arts is a broad diagnostic course giving you an overview of different perspectives and approaches within production arts or related subjects of study or work. You will develop the ability to research, analyse and evaluate relevant information in order to develop creative solutions to complex problems. You will learn how to use practical methods and skills for creative production for appropriate audiences whilst being able to review their effectiveness for further improvement. You will also begin to take responsibility for the research, planning, time management and actions necessary to access progression opportunities in Higher Education or related work.

Entry to this course requires 4 GCSEs at a minimum of grade 4 or C including GCSE English and Maths and successful completion of the Performing Arts Level 2 Diploma or equivalent.
English and Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.
The Level 3 Diploma is a practical, project-based, live-brief course supported by both practical performance and production and ongoing scrapbook assessment. The final major project of the course is externally moderated by University of Arts London.
Work experience and enrichment opportunities are embedded into the timetable to ensure that the course is both diverse and CV enhancing to prepare learners with industry-based experience work in the creative industries. This qualification provides a full-time introduction to Production Arts that develops an understanding of Production Arts as a collaborative activity. The level 2 Diploma qualification will provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to further study and training for a range of production arts subjects, including lighting design, prop design, stage management, directing and others. Over the course you will be introduced to a range of activities essential to the development and delivery of a performance production, developing understanding of pre-production, live theatre and production management for theatre.
Key Info
You will have the opportunity to research the history and context of performance and production and its value in informing practice. You will work within live theatre production, exploding and developing your craft within a variety of areas including musical theatre and toured theatre work. There is also an opportunity to take greater responsibility in the management of an assignment of personal interest, via the final major project, and prepare for progression within a chosen discipline.
