Learning takes place through the use of videos with worked examples, presentations and workbooks that contain practice exercises related to each module.
Before each module you will complete two audits that assess your subject knowledge and confidence in delivery. This will allow you to target areas of development as you work.
All courses are modular. Modules will be delivered online where you can learn at your own pace, at a time that suits you. Our courses use online technology to bring you videos and a range of resources to support your learning journey. You are also supported by a team of subject specialist tutors and technical help is available 24/7.

You must have been offered a place on a relevant Initial Teacher Education route conditional on first taking and satisfactorily completing a Subject Knowledge Enhancement course.
Each participant completes an individual development portfolio which will act both as a tool for monitoring and tracking their progress and to provide evidence at the end of the course for them to take to the ITT Institution in which they intend to complete their training.
Successful completion of this course will award you with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) allowing you to progress to further study or employment in Education and Teaching.
All SKE programmes are funded by the Department for Education (DFE) and managed by National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) which is part of the Department for Education, so there are no tutorial fees to pay. For UK students and eligible EU students a small bursary is payable fixed with a 90% attendance requirement. The bursary for 2020/21 was £175 per week of your course. This is due to be reviewed in the October spending review. For information contact [email protected]
