The photography course is a specialist pathway of the UAL Level 3 Applied General Art & Design Diploma and Extended Diploma. Working with our tutors, all experienced industry practitioners, you will be able to extend your skills in digital and traditional photography including darkroom and the use of photo-editing software to help you create a professional portfolio.

  Key Info

The Level 3 Diploma in Photography course will enable you to develop your creative and technical skills in photography, including the use of specialist equipment, industry standard photo-studio lighting, lenses, camera controls and set-ups. This will be achieved through a series of themed projects, which are open to your creative interpretation and approach.

Four GCSEs at grade 4 or C including English, Maths, and an Art or Design subject. A small portfolio of photography related work can be used instead of, or as well as, the Art and Design GCSE.

A project-based approach to learning enables you to focus on nurturing your creativity. Feedback is given throughout the year allowing you to develop as a creative practitioner. Both first and second year culminates in a Final Major Project from which your grade is decided.

There will be opportunities to work on live briefs with real life clients. Students will be encouraged and supported to make industry links.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to our Extended Diploma in Photography. This course is ideally suited for progression to photography, visual arts or specialist photography courses (such as fashion or editorial) at degree level.
