You will first and foremost develop your team-working and leadership skills, as both will be vital in your future career. You will also be challenged academically, with all lectures being delivered from ex-service personnel who are also fully qualified, graduate teachers. Both these twin aims, practical skills combined with academic underpinnings will be achieved, by; lectures, research, practical activities, field trips, guest speakers, observed and assignment based assessments.
The qualifications provide a range of core, optional and specialist units, each with a clear purpose, so there is something to suit each individual’s choice of programme and future progression plans in addition to the opportunity to develop transferable skills useful for work and for higher education, including research skills, the ability to meet deadlines and communication skills.

Entry to this course requires a Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Public Services or a comparable Level 4 qualification. You will also be require to complete a screening interview.
Assessments and projects are chosen to help you progress to the next stage (this means some are set by the Centre to meet local needs, while others are set by Pearson). You are required to apply your knowledge to a variety of assignments and activities, with a focus on the holistic development of practical, interpersonal and higher-level thinking skills.
Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to further study, University, employment and fast track programs. The Level 5 Higher National Diploma is recognised by higher education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant public services-related courses, and may accrue 2 years APL.
