Entry to this course requires a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Construction and the Built Environment.

Additionally, the course requires a strong performance at A Level in a relevant subject.

Mature applicants may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience (paid and/or unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector.

Non-standard applicants will be required to produce evidence of their ability to study at the Higher Education level.  Short-course and relevant work experience may be taken into account.  Non-standard applicants may be interviewed and may be required to complete a piece of written work as part of their application. Claims for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) are welcomed by the Programme team subject to RQF unit mapping. You should consult the Admissions Tutor if you wish to claim such recognition.

We also consider individual applicants who can demonstrate relevant learning, work/voluntary experience, using our Recognition of Prior Learning process. Please contact the admission team for further information and support.

Each unit has a set of assessment criteria which you must demonstrate to achieve a pass grade.

You will undertake one or more pieces of assessment for each unit and will need to show the assessment criteria for the unit have been met.

Some of the assessments have elements of negotiation where you can make decisions and agree with the tutor what will be undertaken for assessment.

This ensures that the work has personal and professional relevance.

Although this course does not directly offer work experience, there are opportunities for you to undertake a work placement or work experience during your time studying on this course.

Successful completion of the programme can lead to an HND top-up in Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering).

It will also provide the opportunity to develop a career in the rapidly expanding sustainable construction market. The programme is designed to support career progression for anyone working in surveying or for those who would like to develop their knowledge and skills and pursue a career in this field.

Full-time: £8,000, Part-time: £600 per 15 credits.
