Media & Film (Creative Media Production & Technology) will provide you with a broad range of creative and technical skills in media production enabling you to acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to further study and employment within the industry in a range of media-related subjects such as TV, Film, sound engineering and others.

You will develop a wide range of skills associated with film, TV, radio and digital online content which will allow you to explore essential skills and experience needed for employment in the creative industries. You will have the opportunity to express your ideas through practical study and work.

Entry to these courses requires a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or D. Depending upon the level you begin with, entry requirements may differ.

English and/or Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

You will be assessed through practical assessment as well as evaluation of understanding of relevant theory and knowledge.

Successful completion of our Creative Media Production & Technology courses can lead to further study as well as employment in the creative media or games development industries.

If you are 16 to 18 years old you won't have to pay tuition fees. If you're 19 or older you may need to pay a fee.

The Level 2 Award and Diploma qualifications in Creative Media Production and Technology will provide you with an introduction to a broad range of creative and technical skills in media production enabling you to acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to Further Education and employment within the industry in a range of media-related subjects such as TV, Film, sound engineering and others.

You will develop a wide range of skills associated with film, TV, radio and digital online content; actively engaging in practical sessions on cinematography (camera and lighting techniques), sound production and post-production editing in sound and video. Practical sessions are complemented with sessions which explore employment opportunities related to the creative industries.

Throughout the year you will develop an online portfolio of evidence which will demonstrate your continual improvement in all practical aspects of the course. This might include evidence of film challenges, sound recording experiments and video editing tasks. Using the skills you have developed you will choose a media product you wish to research and create before publishing your finished production online, this could include: a short film, documentary, podcast or TV show.

Entry to this course requires 4 GCSEs at a minimum of grade 4 or D including English and Mathematics.

The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study and employment in the media sector.

If you have an interest in media, this qualification will provide the opportunity to explore, develop and test your creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.
