  Overview

Do you want to be a firefighter, work in the police force or armed services? Study with Bradford College.

This course combines classroom-based study with exciting practical and outdoor activities, alongside numerous experiences with the uniformed services themselves. Our courses are suited to learners with a genuine interest in a career within the Uniformed Protective Services including: Fire, Police, Ambulance, Prison, Customs & Excise and the Armed Services (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Royal Marines).

You will have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice through varied work experience opportunities, from visiting guest speakers and on day visits and residential opportunities with the Uniformed Services.

Preferably Grade 4 in both English Language and Mathematics including Grade 4 in at least two other GCSE subjects. It is possible for entry to the programme if you have grade 3 in Maths but this will need to be studied alongside the programme. Completion of a Level 2 Uniformed Public Service programme would be also be preferable but not essential. Entry will be on a case by case situation based on grades, past experience and career intentions.

Assessment includes written assignments, presentations and practical demonstrations.

Including day visits, guest speakers, workshops and residentials, you will benefit from excellent connections with the college and uniformed services in the area. Working with our Work Placement Officers, you will have the support you need to arrange relevant and enriching work experience in the uniformed services that you want to progress in to.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to employment in the Armed and Emergency Services. You have the opportunity to progress to our Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services as well as our Level 4 HNC in Public Services.

Programme Uniform is available to purchase* and will be shared with you during the first induction week of the programme.

Subsidies for trips are in place but there will likely be an expectation for learners to contribute to costs of outdoor activity trips and residentials.

*Bursaries are available to support uniform costs or that of any trips /residentials based on household income.
