  Overview

The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Production Arts is a broad diagnostic course giving you an overview of different perspectives and approaches within production arts or related subjects of study or work. Whether you’re a film fanatic or tv series binge-watcher, this is your chance to gain an insight into the fascinating world of production arts.

You will understand key concepts and choices behind prop, costume and set design as well as production management. You will develop the ability to research, analyse and evaluate relevant information in order to develop creative solutions to complex problems. You will learn how to use practical methods and skills for creative production for appropriate audiences whilst being able to review their effectiveness for further improvement. You will also begin to take responsibility for the research, planning, time management and actions necessary to access progression opportunities in Higher Education or related work.

Unit 9 – Developing Performance and Production Skills

Unit 10 – Preparing for Progression

Unit 11 – Exploration of Specialist Study and Context

As well as a choice between:

Unit 12 – Extended Project (Level 3)

Or Unit 13 – Extended Project (Level 4)

Entry to this course requires 4 GCSEs at a minimum of grade 4 or C including English and Maths and successful completion of the Performing Arts Level 3 Diploma or equivalent.

English and/or Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

Assessment will include practical, project-based, live-brief work supported by both practical performance and production assessment.

Work experience and enrichment opportunities are embedded into the timetable to ensure that the course is both diverse and CV enhancing to prepare learners with industry-based experience work in the creative industries. Our links include but are not limited to – The Royal Shakespeare Company, Dance United, Bradford Council.

On successful completion of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Production Arts you will be in a position to progress to Higher Education study in an area related to production arts. Alternatively, you may progress to entry-level employment in the production arts sector.

If you are 16 to 18 years old you won't have to pay tuition fees. If you're 19 or older you may need to pay a fee.
