  Overview

This is initially a one-year course that leads to progression onto the year 2 Technical Diploma. Both years are needed in order to achieve ‘licence to practice’ as an Early Years Educator (EYE) or to achieve the 3 A levels equivalence needed for UCAS/University entry. There is a work placement 2 days per week, during Year 1 in a day nursery.

Year 1 of this course will award you with a Technical Certificate, before progression into Year 2 where you will work towards an Extended Diploma.

You will gain knowledge within the classroom to include theory, best practice and current early years curriculum content. Placement will give you the opportunity to put this into practice and develop your skills in a real workplace environment. You will also gain skills needed for the workplace such as communication, teamwork, professional values and confidence. You will be supported to develop your academic writing skills needed for further study. Gain practical experience that will support job and university application success alongside achieving a graded A Level equivalent course. All tutors/assessors are industry professionals and are early years trained/experienced. You will learn via College lessons & workshops.

Entry to this course requires 5 GCSEs at 4 or C or above including GCSE English and Maths.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to further study and employment in Early Years, Childcare and Education.

If you are 16 to 18 years old you won't have to pay tuition fees. If you're 19 or older you may need to pay a fee.
