Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technicians plan, select, install, service, commission and maintain all aspects of plumbing and heating systems. Plumbing and domestic heating technicians can find themselves working inside or outside a property. Customer service skills and being tidy and respectful are important qualities as they can often find themselves working in customers’ homes as well as on building sites.

Apprentices must work with gas to achieve this apprenticeship standard.

GCSE grades 9-4 or A-C in Maths and English or achieve Level 1 in initial assessments.

On completion, apprentices can look to progress onto environmental technologies and commercial gas.

If you are 19 years old or over you may need to pay fees for your Further Education studies.

Course fees depend on your age and course level.

You may be exempt from paying fees though, or eligible to pay a reduced fee – known as fee remission.
