The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Engineering builds on the Advanced Technical Certificate.

The Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate in Engineering is for you if you are looking to start in the Engineering sector, covering a range of topics allowing you to develop your knowledge and skills. Topics covered include Manufacturing, New Technologies and Robotics and Automation.

You will study the following units:

  • Engineering Mathematics and Statistics
  • Engineering Workshop Practice
  • Innovation and New Technologies
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Robotics and Automated Manufacture
  • Power and Energy in Engineering

Entry to this course requires 4 GCSEs at a minimum of grade 4 or C or above including GCSE English, Maths and Science. As well as this, you will require a Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Engineering.

Please note that safety boots and a suitable overall will be required for the practical workshop sessions.  All other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied.  Further details will be supplied during the induction process.

To achieve the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Engineering candidates must successfully complete both mandatory assessment components.

  • An external awarding body exam (one per year)
  • An external awarding body set assignment (one per year)
  • You must also undertake employer involvement activities

Your course may include work experience or a work placement that could lead to the offer of a part-time or casual work, or you might work outside of your studies.

Achieving this qualification could lead to employment opportunities for you as a:

  • ­Skilled Machinist
  • ­Composites Technician
  • Measurement and Control Technician

If you are 16 to 18 years old you won't have to pay tuition fees. If you're 19 or older you may need to pay a fee.
