Do you want to work front of house within a catering and hospitality environment?  Our Level 2 in Food and Beverage Service Skills is the ideal course for you to gain real-world experience that employers are looking for.

Develop essential service skills and a rounded knowledge of both front of house and the kitchen, which can lead you to exciting roles in the catering and hospitality industry. Gain valuable first-hand experience of working in a public facing role in our very own on-campus student led Grove Cafe and Restaurant, allowing you to fully develop valuable skills required by employers in the industry.

You will understand how to prepare a wide range of hot beverages and develop barista skills in the process. You will also learn how to use and maintain payment systems. You will gain valuable first-hand experience of working in a public facing role in the colleges Grove Cafe and Restaurant allowing you to fully develop skills in readiness for employment or further studies in this area.

Modules include:

  • Production and Service of Hot Beverages
  • Handling payments and maintaining the payment point

A grade 3 or above in English and Maths is preferable.

Assessment includes observations of practical skills and completion of a written portfolio.

You will gain valuable and first-hand experience of working in a public-facing role in our on-campus Cafe and Restaurant, The Grove. Use and develop the practical skills and knowledge that you have developed on the course in a real-world environment.

Successful completion of this course can lead to employment in various food and beverage facilities including restaurants, cafes, hotels and other catering and hospitality venues. If you want to progress into further study, our Level 2 in Professional Cookery offers the perfect progression route into exciting careers in the catering and hospitality industry.

  • Barista Role in Cafes
  • Waiter /Waitressing Roles

You will be required to purchase a Front of House Uniform, including 1 black shirt/blouse, 1 grey tie and 1 chino style waist apron at a cost of £28.
