A fantastic place to start your accounting career. By the end of the course you will be able to set up and process a full set of accounts including all day books, petty cash, cash books, purchase and sales ledgers and dealing with journal entries and error corrections up to trial balance. The course also includes manual and computerised accounting and an introduction to costing. This course will enable you to develop an understanding of junior and entry level accounting skills.
You will study financial accounting through studying book-keeping using both manual and computerised systems. Costing and the skills needed to work effectively within the accounting workplace form further elements of the course. You will be developing entry level skills for double entry bookkeeping , costing principles and communication and personal skills.
It is required that you have GCSE’s, including English (at a minimum of grade 3) and Maths (at a minimum of grade 4). You will also need to sucessfully complete a AAT assessment.
Please note that additional funds may be required to attend enrichment activities e.g. trade fairs.
You will be assessed by computer based assessment.
Work experience is a compulsory part of the course.
Upon completion of the course, you will be eligible for further study at level 3 within the business department, an apprenticeship in the business sector or employment.
