  Overview

This vocational qualification is aimed at learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed men’s hairdresser.

Based on the barbering National Occupational Standards (NOS), this qualification is recognised by the UK’s leading barbering association (British Barbering Association – BBA) and hairdressing professional body (The Hairdressing Council) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a junior men’s hairdresser.

Students 19 and over are eligible to study this course without it being a part of a study programme.

Entry to this course requires GCSE English and Maths at a grade 3 or D. You must also have a keen interest in following a career in the barbering industry.

Please note you will be required to purchase a kit worth £100.

You will be assessed on your practical skills in our salons and through external exams set by the awarding body.

Work experience is a compulsory component of the course.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to further study or employment in the Hair and Barbering sector.

If you are 16 to 18 years old you won't have to pay tuition fees. If you're 19 or older you may need to pay a fee.
