Do you want to take the first step to becoming a professionally qualified youth worker?

Are you interested in making a difference in a young person’s life?

Level 2 Award is your introduction into the world of youth work, on this course you will look at how the foundations of youth work are laid to create a safe and fun working environment with young people aged 11- 19. You will begin to explore values and ethics and gain an understanding of the significance of safeguarding whilst also delving into the theories that underpin the work.

The Award comprises four units which, if completed, create the Award or individual units that can be assessed to meet your individual needs.

The qualification will enable you to link theory to practice in an experiential learning environment.

You will gain the necessary skills to become a dynamic and resourceful practitioner.

The units covered are:

  • Theory of Youth Work
  • Young People’s Development
  • Engaging and Communicating with Young People
  • Safeguarding

Entry to this course requires you to be of a minimum age of 18. For the Level 2 Award you will need to be in paid, unpaid or voluntary practice for a minimum of two hours per week to secure a place on the course.

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to further study or employment in the Youth Work sector.


Course fees are £500. If you're 19 or older you may need to pay a fee.
