Overview
This 2 day course is planned to run on the weekend of 5th and 6th March 2022.
The aim of the qualifications is to train learners, who already have knowledge and skills in fitness instruction, to a professionally competent level to plan and deliver safe and effective group cycling sessions. This will broaden the skills and improve the employability of a fitness instructor to include instructing studio cycling sessions.

Course content will include a mix of both practical and theoretical elements covering the following areas:
- Principles / Concepts of training in Studio Cycling
- Safety considerations of instructing Studio Cycling
- Safe and Effective planning of Studio Cycling sessions
- Basic maintenance and repair of Studio Cycling bikes
- Use of music in Studio Cycling sessions
- Communication skills in Studio Cycling
The Active IQ Award in Instructing Studio Cycling is also recognised by The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 2, but does not provide access onto the Register. Entry onto the Register is gained via a recognised level 2 fitness instructing qualification.
Entry to this course requires a suitable Level 2 Fitness Instructing qualification e.g. Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing. Some experience of studio cycling is useful. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.
Successful completion of this course provides progression to Level 3 qualifications in Personal Training and can also provide progression to other related sectors e.g. Sports Massage. Both progression pathways are available to study at Bradford College.
Fees
Course fees are £146, which includes £27.50 registration / certification fee and a £15 qualification manual fee.
