This 2 day course is planned to run on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of April 2022.

The aim of the qualifications is to train learners, who already have knowledge and skills in fitness instruction, to a professionally competent level to plan and deliver safe and effective kettlebell exercises and training sessions. This will broaden the skills and improve the employability of a fitness instructor to include instructing kettlebell sessions.

  Key Info

Course content will include a mix of both practical and theoretical elements covering the following areas:

  • History and benefits of Kettlebells
  • Kettlebell lifts
  • Designing Kettlebell programmes
  • Planning, preparation and instructing Kettlebell sessions
  • Safety Considerations when Instructing Kettlebell sessions
  • Communication skills in Kettlebell sessions

The Active IQ Award in Instructing Kettlebells is also recognised by The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 2, but does not provide access onto the Register. Entry onto the Register is gained via a recognised Level 2 fitness instructing qualification

Entry to this course requires a suitable Level 2 Fitness Instructing qualification e.g. Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing. Some experience of Kettlebells would be useful.  The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.

There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.

Assessed evidence to complete the qualification includes:

  • Written Worksheets
  • Written Session Plan
  • Observed Practical Instructed Session
  • Written Session Self-Evaluation

Successful completion of this course provides progression to Level 3 qualifications in Personal Training and can also provide progression to other related sectors e.g. Sports Massage. Both progression pathways are available to study at Bradford College.

Course fees are £116, which includes a £27.50 registration / certification fee and an £18 qualification manual fee.
