Course Overview

Travel and Tourism is now one of the largest sectors in the world in terms of generating jobs and income. It is a dynamic and vibrant sector which makes a major contribution to the UK economy with many different industries forming part of it. Currently there are more than two million people employed in tourism in the UK, so there are lots of opportunities for you to find a rewarding career in the industry, either at home or overseas.

Course Structure

You will study the following Units:

  • Promotions and Sales in Travel & Tourism
  • Special Interest Holidays and Independent Travel
  • Arranging Business Travel
  • Conferences and Events
  • Developing an Entertainment Programme in Travel & Tourism
  • Investigating the Cruise Industry.

A work placement in Travel & Tourism will form part of your programme.

Bradford College offers a Higher Education programme and if you achieve at Merit or higher on a Level 3 City & Guilds course, you will be eligible to apply.


Entry Requirements

You must be keen and interested in the travel industry and have successfully completed a Level 2 travel related course or have or GCSE English and mathematics at a minimum of Grade C/4.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

How Will I Learn?

Our experienced staff will deliver a variety of lectures, seminars, workshops and presentations alongside independent student research. You will develop skills using the latest travel industry directories and manuals.


Trips will form part of your course of study and will include day trips and overnight UK and overseas trips. Financial help towards the cost of trips may be available.

Skills in Mathematics and English at the level above your qualification and up to GCSE Grade C will support your full-time course. This will assist in areas such as assignment writing, research, job applications, presentations, managing your finances and interpretation of data. These skills will also help you in the future as most employers look for evidence of ability in these areas.

How You Will Be Assessed

Your coursework will be internally assessed and there will be some online tests.

Things You May Need

You will be required to purchase and wear a uniform and the course will include compulsory trips that you will have to pay for.
