Course Overview

The Sport Industry is constantly growing, with increased demand for roles in coaching, fitness and development.

The Extended-Diploma is the gold standard for vocational education in Sport. It is an excellent programme where you will study a range of units that prepare you for a career in Sport. You'll also acquire UCAS points that will allow you to study at University and in Higher Education. If you complete this two year course you will achieve the equivalent of 3 full A-Levels!

You will be required to attend tutorials, a week's work experience and take part in our sports clubs which are supported by local academies.

There will also be a requirement to complete independent study, completed through Bradford College's virtual learning environment. All your course resources will be available to you on here and is where you will also submit your evidence for assessment.

Entry Requirements

• A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English or Mathematics and preferably a Sport / P.E. related qualification.

• BTEC Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or above.

• Mature students will be considered based on employment experience and satisfactory references.

• English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have been awarded a place on the course and have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C / 4 or above in these subjects.

• You may also be required to attend and successfully complete an Assessment Day.

How Will I Learn?

Learning is delivered through both theory and practical based sessions. Further learning will be carried out on work experience, on visits to sports facilities, on residential opportunities and from visiting guest speakers. You will also be expected to take responsibility for independent study outside of your timetable, as directed by your tutors, using the Virtual Learning Environment platform.

By studying this course at Bradford College you will develop yourself on both an academic and professional level. You will be writing reports, carrying out evaluations, analysis and presenting your work to your peers and tutors. As well as this you’ll be learning coaching and leadership skills, Fitness programme design and assessment skills. Bradford College has set up excellent links with sports organisations locally, and you will be encouraged to get involved with at least one of these during your course.
