Course Overview

This qualification will give you the knowledge base you need to start your career in care work. The course will run at Forster College - part of Bradford College.

The programme is knowledge-based, so you do not need to be working, volunteering or on a practical placement. However, if you wish to progress onto the Diploma or Apprenticeship, this qualification will be used as evidence of knowledge.

Course Structure

Units covered are:

 

  • Principles of communication in adult social care settings
  • Principles of personal development in adult social care settings
  • Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  • Understand the role of the social care worker
  • Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings
  • Understand health and safety in social care settings
  • Understand how to handle information in social care settings.

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our FE Registry team.
