Course Overview

This is a Level 2 qualification is for anyone who wants to work as a plumber in the building services engineering sector. You will learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the plumbing sector.  It is practically based with classroom theory sessions Attendance is two evenings per week (Tuesday and Thursday) or all day Friday for 36 weeks.

Course Structure

The course comprises of the following topics:
  • Health and safety in building services engineering
  • Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
  • Scientific principles for domestic, industrial and commercial plumbing
  • Common plumbing processes
  • Cold and hot water domestic water systems
  • Sanitation
  • Central heating systems
  • Drainage systems
  • Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering

Entry Requirements

You will be interviewed to assess your suitability for the course and undertake an assessment for Literacy and Numeracy in which you must achieve a minimum of Entry Level 3 in both subjects. You will also have a Level 1 plumbing qualification. 

How You Will Be Assessed

The course is assessed by continuous practical assessments with on-line exams for each unit. You will also carry out an assessment which requires you to install a bathroom suite.

Things You May Need

You will be required to wear safety boots with steel toe caps and hi-vis vest when working in the College workshops.

Tuition Fees

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our FE Registry team.
