Course Overview

The GCSE in Physics A (Gateway Science) will introduce you to the key concepts of physics, integrating theory with practical skills. It will help you develop your knowledge of scientific methodology and your conceptual understanding of physics and how this can be applied to the world around you.

  • Topic P9 is a practical-based topic which provides learners with the necessary skills to undertake the 15% practical content in the examinations.

Entry Requirements

3s in GCSE Combined or Separate Sciences, at least one 6 and one 3 in English language and GCSE mathematics.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

How You Will Be Assessed

Physics A (Gateway Science) consists of two examined papers that are externally assessed. Each Paper is a 1 hour 45 minutes written paper (90 marks).
