Course Overview

The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading provides students with the knowledge and understanding to successfully lead a team and to develop their knowledge in the understanding of business. Students will also develop knowledge needed to support communication with a range of stakeholders at different levels. The course contains productive content to allow students to develop their skills in managing performance in the workplace, resolving conflict and developing relationships with colleagues. Students will learn the skills required to motivate team members through developmental activity. Students will learn how to understand customers and resolve queries. The course introduces you to legislation regarding health and safety in the workplace. This course is available to study paper-based.

Course Structure

The course consists of 3 parts covering the 8 units listed below:

Part 1

Assessment 1

Unit 1 - Principles of Team Leading

• Understanding leadership styles, team dynamics and team motivation

• Understanding techniques used to manage the work of teams

• Understanding the impact of change management within a team.

Unit 2 - Understand Business

• Understanding organisational structures and the business environment

• Understanding the principles of business planning and finance within an organisation

• Understanding business reporting within an organisation

• Understanding the principles of management responsibilities and accountabilities within an organisation

Unit 3 - Understand how to communicate work - related Information

• Understanding the principles and techniques of work related communication/meetings

Part 2

Assessment 5 & 6

Unit 5 – Understand Customers

• Understand different types of customers

• Understand the value of customers and their loyalty

Unit 6 – Understand how to deliver customer service and resolve problems

• Understand customer service and delivery

• Understand the relationship between customer service and brand

• Understand the resolution of customer service problems

Part 3

Assessment 8, 9 &13

Unit 8 - Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues

• Understand the principles of effective team working

• Understand how to develop working relationships with other teams and departments

Unit 9 - Understand health and safety procedures in the workplace

• Know health and safety procedures in the workplace

Unit 13 - Understand personal development

• Understand the role of a team leader

• Understand how to produce a personal development plan

Entry Requirements

Students can apply to undertake this course by registering their interest with their employer (e.g. their line manager, training and development or personnel department). Employers can then register students by completing a standard booking form (terms and conditions apply), which can be provided on request. Students can also register as individuals and are asked to email us. Inductions onto the course can be done in groups, on request, at the student's place of employment or via post or email. Once enrolled on the course, paper-based students will receive their course material in the post via recorded delivery (Unless not already received at a group induction). Students studying via the online portal will receive login details via email.

Course Fees

There are no fees for this course; the College has secured funding and has agreed to waive all fees. Therefore, there is no charge to either you (the employer) or you (the student).

Please note, when a student enrols onto a course, they will be expected to complete the programme of study within the allocated timescales. Should a student not complete the course in full, they will be required to pay a fee to cover registration, administration fees and learning material costs.
