Course Overview

This NVQ course will provide an understanding of the sector and the vocational skills and knowledge required for Nails Services. It will also give you an awareness of the range of employment in the beauty field and will enable you to make an informed decision about your future career.


This course is a rolling programme, which means that you can join us at any time of the year. You will attend college one day per week and be trained in your workplace for the rest of the week. An assessor will visit your workplace to assess your practical competence.

Course Structure

Modules at Level 2 include:

  • Health and Safety
  • Promotional Activities
  • Effectiveness at Work
  • Manicure Treatments
  • Pedicure Treatments
  • The Extension & Maintenance of Nails Using Acrylic Based System
  • Nail Art
  • Reception Duties.

Modules at Level 3 will include:

  • Health & Safety
  • Promotional Activities
  • Enhance the Nail Using UV Gel Systems
  • Enhance the Nails Using Liquid & Powder
  • Enhance & Maintain the Nails Using Wraps
  • Nail Art.


As part of your apprenticeship framework you will need to study Mathematics & English in Functional Skills, as well as Employee Rights & Responsibilities.

You will be required to study a technical qualification at Bradford College.

On completion of Level 2, you will be in a position to progress to a Level 3 Apprenticeship and on completion of Level 3, you may choose to progress to Higher Education.
 

Entry Requirements

Level 2: GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade A*-E or Entry 3 on the Literacy and Numeracy BKSB screening.

Level 3: GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade A*-C or Level 1 on the Literacy and Numeracy BKSB screening.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

How Will I Learn?

You will learn 'on the job' at your work placement and 'off the job' at College.

Skills You Will Develop

You will learn all aspects of Nails Services to enable you to be a Junior Nail Technician in the salon at Level 2 or a Nail Technician at Level 3.

Tuition Fees

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our FE Registry team.
