Course Overview

This is a roll-on, roll-off Edexcel professional qualification at Level 4. Following an initial induction session in Lister Building, the rest of the course is supported by tutorials. As the course is workplace and evidence-based, candidates complete the course in a time-scale which reflects their commitment.
The course is for those who internally quality assure assessors and assessment, but who do not manage the centre or other internal quality assurers.

Course Structure

This is a 12 credit and 90 guided learning hour qualification consisting of 2 mandatory units:

  1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
  2. Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

This is an evidence-based course and whilst there are resources on the Moodle platform, the candidate’s own supporting internal quality assurer in their workplace acts as mentor and takes the candidate through the quality assurance processes and practices.

Entry Requirements

You need to have a recognised assessor qualification e.g. AVA, A1, D32 etc. and be an experienced assessor.

You need to support 2 assessors (qualified or trainee), who have at least two students to assess.

You need to have some experience of internal quality assurance or have spent time shadowing your own internal quality assurer.

Skills You Will Develop

Many employers and awarding bodies expect Internal Quality Assurers to be qualified, and this course provides that qualification.

How You Will Be Assessed

Evidence is submitted and assessed through electronic portfolio. The candidate is required to meet all the requirements and criteria set by the awarding body in order to achieve the qualification.
