Course Overview

The VTCT Level 1 Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector (QCF) has been designed to introduce you to a range of practical skills from across the hair and beauty industries.

The qualification will prepare you for employment as a supervised assistant or apprentice for further study at Level 2. The qualification will give you the opportunity to perform your own basic hair and beauty services alongside assisting others in the salon.

Course Structure

You will study two Mandatory Units:

  • Introduction to the Hair and beauty Sector
  • Present a Professional Image in the Salon.

You will also study a range of technical Hair and Beauty Units.

 

 

 

 

Entry Requirements

You should have GCSEs at Grade E/2 to F/1 including English and Mathematics.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

Benefits

You may choose to continue to develop your skills in both the Hair and Beauty industries or decide to specialise in just one - Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty Therapy or Nails by studying a relevant Level 2 qualification.

Things You May Need

You will be required to purchase and wear a uniform and buy some equipment such as make-up and brushes. All the necessary uniform can be purchased from the Department throughout July, August and September.
