Course Overview

This new BTEC level 1 Introductory qualification has been developed in response from learner feedback highlighting the need for a distinct, graded level 1 BTEC that is motivating.
 
The qualification is designed to not only introduce you to IT but also help you to develop the learning skills you will need to progress to further learning, an apprenticeship or employment.

Course Structure

BTEC have designed this new graded qualification to give the learners the core skills they need to progress. This course is available as a Certificate.

There is a possibility of work placement and speakers from the industry.

Modules Covered
  • A1: Being Organised
  • A2: Developing a Personal Progression Plan
  • IT5: Developing Digital Information using IT
  • IT8: Creating a Spreadsheet to Solve Problems
  • IT9: Creating a Website

Entry Requirements

GCSE 2 in English and maths.
 
Or Functional skills entry 3 in English and maths
Or Level 1 in ESOL
 
A reference showing good attendance and punctuality. 
 
Internal progression from Access to FE (must include reference from Access to FE course tutor): 
  • Entry 3 ICT
  • Entry 2 Literacy
  • Entry 2 Numeracy
 

 

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

How Will I Learn?

Lectures, online modules (Moodle), groupwork, electronic resources, external speakers.

 

Skills You Will Develop

You will develop skills in IT, English and maths.

Coursework/assignments in class, no external assessments or exams.

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our FE Registry team.
