Course Overview

You need to be in employment in a hair salon working at least 30 hours per week.  You will attend college one day per week and be trained  in your workplace for the rest of the week. 

Course Structure

You will study:

Shampoo and Conditioning Treatments, Hair Colouring, Cutting Techniques, Styling and Finishing Hair, Client Consultation and Health & Safety.

You will need to study Functional Skills in English and Mathematics.

Entry Requirements

You should be employed in a hair salon, preferably have GCSEs in three subjects and have an outgoing personality with the ability to communicate and act in a professional manner, plus have a passion for  hairdressing.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

How You Will Be Assessed

An assessor will visit your workplace to assess your practical competence.

Things You May Need

You will be required to purchase and wear a uniform and buy some equipment such as make-up and brushes. All the necessary uniform can be purchased from the Department throughout July, August and September.

Tuition Fees

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our FE Registry team.
