Course Overview

The Functional Skills English qualification will equip you with the basic practical skills required in everyday life, education and the workplace. The course will run at Forster College - part of Bradford College.

 

You will learn in a group and develop the transferable skills you will need to be successful.

 

Course Structure

The course includes three assessments:

 

  • Writing (one hour assessment)
  • Reading (one hour assessment)
  • Speaking and Listening – to be observed in two class discussions.

 

All of the above have to be passed to achieve the full qualification. The sessions are three hours per week for 21 weeks.

 

Completion of the course will Improve your English skills will make you more confident, and as you progress through the levels you will be building on your skills to enable you to use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

 

Progression routes are available to higher level English qualifications.

 

 

Entry Requirements

Acceptance onto the course is by assessment. You will need to bring evidence of your prior attainment. Please ring Forster College to arrange an assessment.

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our team.
