Course Overview

Interested in exciting courses, designed for young people aged 16-18 with learning difficulties and/or disabilities/barriers to learning, to develop personal and work-related skills?
 
Our Foundation to learning study programmes give you the opportunity to learn a variety of new skills, build your confidence, help to improve your English and maths and ultimately become more independent. You will be able to participate in taster sessions for your chosen career, as well as develop personal and social skills. This will then enable you to progress into further learning or supported employment activities, where you could be helping someone else perform their job, or even, under supervision, progressing to a job of your own.
 
Our tutors and work placement officers on the Foundation to learning course are all highly experienced and will provide you with a wide range of stimulating, educational and enjoyable activities, both in and out of the classroom, all focussed on developing your opportunities to progressing on to other further education courses within the college.
 
You will have endless opportunities to build your existing skills and develop new ones and, with our guidance and support, you will grow in self-confidence and achieve your goals.

Course Structure

Your Programme of Study will also include: health, safety, well-being and employability, mathematics, English, taster sessions for your chosen vocation, enrichment and tutorials.

Entry Requirements

You should be working at a minimum of Entry Level 3.
 
This course is suitable for those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
 
English and Mathematics will be included in your timetable.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

How Will I Learn?

You will carry out simple, familiar tasks and activities with guidance and support from your tutor.

Benefits

This course is a stepping stone to other courses within the college, it gives you the opportunity to gain qualifications in English and Maths as well as taster sessions in your chosen career. If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our FE Registry team.
