Course Overview

If you enjoy preparing and cooking food and serving food and drink, this is the perfect course for you.

You will gain knowledge and learn core kitchen and front of house service skills.

The course runs on three days per week including work experience and leads to a City & Guilds qualification and offers progression to a Level 2 Cooking qualification.


Course Structure

The course is made up of blocks including:

  • Food Preparation and Cooking - Units including: Cold Food Preparation, Bread, Prepare & Cook Food by Baking and Roasting & Grilling
  • Food and Beverage Service
  • Food Safety.

The course will include compulsory trips that you will be required to attend.

There is also time dedicated to the necessary supporting knowledge and the study of Functional Skills Literacy and Numeracy.



Entry Requirements

You should be aged 16-18 and have a minimum of  four GCSEs at Grade E/2 or above including English and Mathematics.

You will need to demonstrate, in an initial assessment at your interview, that you are working at an appropriate level.

Things You May Need

You will be required to purchase and wear a uniform and buy some equipment such as knives. All the necessary uniform can be purchased from the Department throughout July, August and September.

Tuition Fees

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our team.
