Course Overview

The programme is built around creating a business plan, developing your vision, researching the market, financial modelling and pitching to investors. You will also learn more about yourself and how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. You will interact with both national and local entrepreneurs, working on a range of business challenges.

Learning activities include lectures, team activities, and visits to local businesses. There will be discussions, debates and work placements together with the setting up of an enterprise/business which will be the focus of your learning. 


 

Course Structure

You will spend five days a week in College participating in classroom, lectures, workshops and hands-on enterprise activities. Units covered include:

• Researching Your Market
• The Marketing Plan
• Financial Modelling and Forecasting
• The Entrepreneurial Mindset
• Managing Personal Finance
• Creating a Vision for Your Business Plan
• The Business Environment
• Preparing and Pitching a Business Plan
• Leadership and Teamwork
• Toolkits for Idea Generation
• Enterprise in the Workplace.

A strong emphasis is placed on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to complete in partnership with other students. You also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning.
Key Skills are delivered as an integral part of the course and you will be expected to complete a portfolio of evidence. You may also need to take an examination in Literacy and Numeracy.
 

Entry Requirements

Three GCSEs at a minimum of Grade D/3 including English and Mathematics.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

Benefits

  • Upon successful completion of the course, you can progress to the Level 3 qualification in which you will set up and run your own business, or onto further education
  • You can apply for work experience where you can apply your business skills.

How You Will Be Assessed

Assessments are based on completion of assignments which demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the course material.

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our FE Registry team.
