Course Overview

The BTEC National Diploma in Construction provides an in-depth knowledge of a wide selection of areas in the field. You will gain an insight into the employment opportunities available in the construction industry enabling you to choose your preferred area of work, and if you are already in employment, help you progress to a more responsible job or prominent position within your chosen field.

This qualification is ideal if you are aiming to progress to Higher Education or to enter work within the building, civil engineering or related industries.

Course Structure

The course is Module-based and to gain the Level 3 Extended Diploma qualification you will need to complete at least 18 Modules including Mandatory and Optional Units.

You will also take part in additional industry-related activities.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs  at Grades A*-C/9-4 including Mathematics, an appropriate Science and English, or a subject demonstrating ability in written English, or a BTEC First Certificate/First Diploma/Level 2 Diploma in Construction or Engineering or the equivalent.
Mature students without the above qualifications but with relevant professional experience will be given full consideration.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

In addition, practical work will be undertaken within your employment or work placement with an employer.
You will have access to excellent facilities to help you with your studies including computer workshops and specialist equipment.

Skills You Will Develop

The course will develop understanding ,skills and knowledge required  to prepare you for employment ,in the fields of Civil Engineering, Construction Management ,Quantity Surveying and  Architectural Technology.


The qualification will give you the opportunity to enter the world of employment or to progress to a higher qualification in Construction and the Built Environment.
