Course Overview

Citizenship Studies prepares students to become active citizens of democracy. Our Citizenship Studies specifications allow students to apply their learning to real-life scenarios on both a local and global scale.
 
Citizenship Studies provides the opportunity for students to work individually to develop their own knowledge and also encourages students to work with others and take part in group activities to bring about a change.

Course Structure

This course is divided into five sections. The section on Active citizenship is a mix of a research and a practical task.

Modules covered are:

  1. Citizenship skills, processes and methods
  2. Life in modern Britain
  3. Rights and responsibilities
  4. Politics and participation
  5. Active citizenship

Entry Requirements

We require 5 GCSEs, for entry to this course.

English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at Grade A*-C in these subjects when you commence your course.

How Will I Learn?

You will experience dynamic learning through individual and group research and activities.

Teaching methods are a mix of theory and practical sessions.

Skills You Will Develop

You will develop understanding and knowledge of democracy, government and law. You will learn skills to create sustained and reasoned arguments, present various viewpoints and plan practical citizenship actions to benefits society.

If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees. Course fees are dependent on the number of hours and which course is being taken. Actual costs can be obtained from our FE Registry team.
