Course Overview

The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. Students will learn and master a number of accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practice for accountants. The AAT brand is internationally recognised within the Accountancy sector with a proven track record of providing students with the skills that employers seek.

This is the second of three Levels which you are required to achieve to become a fully qualified AAT Accounting Technician. It is also a valuable qualification for those already working in accounts who wish to develop their skills.

Course Structure

The Level 3 Diploma is made up of six Units.  You will adjust and prepare accounts for Sole Trader and Partnership businesses as well as gaining experience in a range of costing techniques.  The use of spreadsheets to analyse accounting information will be investigated, and you will gain a valuable insight into the Professional Ethics that govern the accounting profession.

Entry Requirements

You should have successfully achieved the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or an equivalent qualification, eg NVQ 2 Accounting, and have a good standard of Literacy and Numeracy with four GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English and Mathematics.  You may also be able to demonstrate your competence by providing evidence of other qualifications and/or accounting work experience which will be considered on an individual basis.  In exceptional circumstances you may be asked to complete an assignment.  You must also register with the AAT for which full details will be given at induction.  IT skills are desirable as the course includes the study of spreadsheets.
