This top-up qualification will be required for those of you who are considering going to university as it generates UCAS points.
Travel and Tourism is now one of the largest sectors in the world in terms of generating jobs and income.
This one year course has been designed to meet the needs of those who want to work in the travel and tourism industry, for example: holiday centres, tour operator companies, travel agencies, cruise line companies or conference events organisations.
The course will allow you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the travel and tourism sector.
Many of the course units will be delivered together with all students; however you will have the flexibility to choose your own study route for part of the course to help your progression in either the retail or business travel sector.

You will develop skills using the latest travel industry directories and manuals.
You’ll also have English and Maths in your timetable to help you improve your skills in those areas.
This will assist you in areas such as assignment writing, research, job applications, presentations, managing your finances and the interpretation of data.
These skills will also help you in the future as most employers look for evidence of ability in these areas. 100% attendance in these lessons is therefore mandatory.

You will have needed to have successfully completed Year 1 of this Level 3 course.
English and/or Mathematics will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.

You are strongly advised to aim to secure part-time employment in a customer service setting to complement your studies, but please be mindful that your studies should be given precedence over any paid employment. If you struggle to find paid employment a good way to develop your employability skills and to increase your chances of success at interview is through voluntary work.
Career opportunities in the Travel and Tourism sector include:
A travel agent can earn £14,000 - £40,000+ a year.
A tour guide can earn £18,000 - £30,000+ a year.
Air cabin crew can earn £12,000 - £30,000+ a year.
Travel & Tourism Tutor
Level 1 & 2 courses are government funded. Any students aged 16-23 completing their first level 3 qualification will have their course fees funded by the government.
Anyone aged 19-23 that is completing a second level 3 qualification will need to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to pay for their fees. Support will be given on the application for this during enrolment. Anyone taking out one of these loans will not have to pay for this until they are earning a minimum of £25,000 a year.
If you are aged 19+ and studying a Further Education Course at Bradford College, you may have to pay course fees.
The amount depends on the course and on the number of hours. Actual costs can be obtained from our team.
